1. Covenant – Knowing God’s Covenant
God reveals himself to us as the God of Covenant. Everything he does to us is based on Covenant. Whenever his people forgot the Covenant, they provoked God’s anger. Even though we can fully trust God in everything he promised because he has given us “His Word”, he chose in addition to bind himself to us with a Covenant, “…so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one, which enters within the veil.” Hebrews 6:18-19
Now with these two guarantees, we are firmly connected to the surest anchor in Universe, which goes within the veil into the holy of holies where the throne of God is. Understanding the Covenant provides us with:
- An unshakable assurance in our salvation
- An increasing reverence towards His name
As Andrew Murray said: “Blessed is the man who truly knows God as his Covenant God; who knows what the Covenant promises him; what unwavering confidence of expectation it secures.” Trusting Him as a covenant partner frees us from the bondage of worry and anxiety and brings us into an indescribable joy providing excitement to everyday life.

Free from the guilt and power of sin, but what about the flesh? Discover how justification by faith relates to day-by-day living through the Holy Spirit’s power – the amazing process of sanctification. God doesn’t go back on His promises. He can always be trusted. Romans 9-11 is an extended discussion of the subject of God’s sovereignty — election, predestination, and responsibility — focusing on His choice of Israel and His faithfulness to His covenant. The righteous shall live by faith! Do you live out your faith? What practical things can you do to show that you have been justified? Romans 12-16 are very practical chapters!
