THIS WEEK AT CORNERSTONE

Hopefully you are all staying cool during our sweltering summer!  Seems like we can’t even remember those brutally cold days of just a few months ago now!

Cornerstone will have a baptism sometime in July.  If you would like to be identified with Christ in baptism, please let Pastor Terry or the office know of your interest.

Would you like to learn how to use Skype?  Come to a workshop in the Junior Church Room TOMORROW, Thursday, June 24 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. where Lynn Moeckel and Gail Faris will teach us how to Skype.

Have you ever ridden our 7-man bike?  Here is your chance!  John Gilbert has taken on this task for the Webster Groves 4th of July Parade which will be on Saturday, July 3.  He needs a few more riders.  Contact John at 314.808.1150 or jgilbystl@att.net.

Matt Creamer will lead our next Prayer Meeting and Hymn Sing in the Sanctuary on Sunday, July 11, beginning at 6:30 p.m.  This will be a blessed time for all.  Come join us in prayer and sing those hymns of old.

Cornerstone is sponsoring a Golf Tournament on Monday, July 26th, at Crescent Farms Golf Course in Eureka to support Richard and Pam Schumacher of EFCA and Al and Edie Lewis of Reach Global.  Registration forms are available in the Welcome Center.

Camp Cornerstone will be at Turkey Hill Ranch Camp on August 27 through 29.  Watch for signups to begin July 11th.  Is this on your calendar yet?

CONTINUING BIBLE STUDIES – Other studies are listed under the gender specific ministries below.

The two Russian Bible Studies that meet every Wednesday at the Parkway Baptist facility will take a break and not meet until July 28th.

Rich Cartier leads a class on 1st Corinthians every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the church office.  The plans are to continue this class into the Fall.  Rich will also teach this class during the 2nd hour on Sunday mornings through the Summer.

The Saturday morning Barnabas Project resumes in the Fireplace Room this Saturday, the 26th.

MISSIONS

Our mission trip to Moldova is in the final stages of preparation.  Cornerstone people going on the trip are Ion Cheptene, Anne Parker, Oleg and Irina Podgorny and Derrick Staten.  Please be in prayer for this trip and for everyone involved, including the children who will be attending the camps.  We are accepting donations for this trip through the month of June.  ♥ If you would like to pay the way for one or more Moldovan children to attend the camps, the cost is $68 per child.  This gives children, who do not have the means to pay, the ability to attend and learn about Jesus.

Remember the Brockman family and Mike & Nolan Connelly as they are on their Mexico mission trip this week.  They “have been going and going, like the Energizer Bunny.  Eli and Trey have been having a blast helping with the vacation Bible School and the sports ministry, witnessing to all the kids.  Many are professing faith in the Savior – Jesus Christ.  Denise and I are teaching women’s and men’s ministry . Keep praying for God’s grace – It seems to be working as many are coming to know the truth of Jesus Christ, and placing their trust in him!”   If you did not sign up for their email updates, our office can forward them to you – just email joanne@cornerstonestaff.org and let us know.

MEN’S MINISTRY

Every Friday at 7:00 a.m. a Men’s Bible Study meets at First Watch in Kirkwood.  The current study is on “The Attributes of God”.  All men are welcome to attend.

The men’s Bible study on Romans led by Ernie Brockman meets on Monday nights, 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Fireplace Room.   NOTE:  This class will NOT meet on June 21 or 28 due to their Mexico mission trip.

Save this date … Father-Son camping and float trip.  Leave church at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 6th and return by 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 8th.   It will be possible for some to float on Saturday without camping Friday and Saturday nights.   Boys without fathers are welcome – men are needed as stand-in fathers♥.  Contact Mark Kamphoefner if you are interested – 314.821.9488 or kamphoefner@sbcglobal.net.

STUDENT MINISTRY

College Students!  A Bible study class specifically for you meets each Sunday morning during the 10:45 a.m. hour in the Fireplace Room.  There is also a Bible study that meets every Sunday evening at the Connelly’s home, 2147 Avalon Ridge Circle, Fenton, 63026, through June and July.  Come, learn and participate.

Two discipleship weekend retreats are happening this summer.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

♥ Only two more openings are left to help in this summer’s 10:45 a.m. Kindergarten through 5th Grade class.  The curriculum consists of Bible story DVD’s with accompanying activity sheets – very easy.  Look for the sign-up chart on an easel in the foyer this Sunday.  Questions?  Call Anne at (314) 315-7317 or the church office at (314) 968-9808.

Signups are now going on for this summer’s Vacation Bible School – July 26-30 – “A Celtic Celebration”.  All children between age 3 and 5th grade (in the Fall) are invited to participate.  Everyone is invited to help ♥ in some way – we especially need teenagers.

Our needs for VBS craft projects this year are cereal boxes.  Please save all your discarded cereal boxes, bring them to Cornerstone and place them in the container marked “VBS” under the coat rack.  Thank you!

MOPS (Mothers of PreSchoolers) continues to meet on the first and third Thursday of each month.  Their summer program consists of meeting at local parks and includes a family picnic on Sunday, July 25, 5:00 p.m. at Crestwood Park.

PRAYER

Continue to pray for Maggie Almquist, Karen Felton, Cornerstone missionaries, our Russian congregation, marriages, students and those going through personal trials and health issues; plus Immanuel, Pastor Todd and their congregation.

Reminder:  Our Monday evening prayer group meets from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary; and, the 50/50 prayer group meets every Thursday morning from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. in the Fireplace Room.  Everyone is welcome to join either or both groups.

If and when you have prayer requests, be sure to call or send them to the church office by Wednesday Noon so they can be included in this communiqué and in Sunday’s bulletin.

SERVING CORNERSTONE

Please consider being a volunteer at Cornerstone.  Sign up through the Welcome sheet in your Sunday bulletin or call or email the church office to joanne@cornerstonestaff.org .  Wherever you see this symbol “♥” in this publication indicates volunteer opportunities available at Cornerstone.  Contact the office to find where you can help.  You are what makes Cornerstone thrive so come, volunteer and help us grow.

REMINDER!  ♥ We continually collect used laser and ink jet printer cartridges and old cell phones for our silent recycling fundraiser – place them in the basket located by the elevator in the foyer.

STAY COOL!!
