 THIS WEEK AT CORNERSTONE

The announcement in last week’s TWC regarding Communion being postponed to Sunday, July 11th has been retracted.  We WILL serve Communion on our traditional first Sunday, July 4th, where our Russian congregation will be joining us. too.  Pastor Terry’s sermon title is “Remembering Our Independence” from Exodus 13:1-16.  Also, please note that our Russian congregation is changing the time of their service from 12:30 p.m. to 10:45 a.m. beginning on July 11th.

Also, please note there will be NO NURSERY during 2nd hour this Sunday!  Our office will also be closed on Monday, the 5th, in light of the Independence Day Holiday.

Cornerstone will have a baptism later in July or early August.  If you would like to be identified with Christ in baptism, please let Pastor Terry or the office know of your interest.

Have you ever ridden our 7-man bike/trike?  ♥ Here is your chance!  John Gilbert has entered it in the Webster Groves 4th of July Parade which will be this Saturday, July 3rdHe needs a few more adult riders AND we need “wheelwalkers”.  Contact the office or John at 314.808.1150 or jgilbystl@att.net.  By the way, John says he will be at the church parking lot tomorrow from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to practice riding it around.  If you want to ride it, come by tomorrow evening.

Mike Nehre of Immanuel sends the following message to us:    ”Hey all,
Here is an opportunity to not only volunteer ♥ but also learn a skill as well.  We would like to get about 12 people to go from IEFC/CEFC to a new church-based day care in our neighborhood that we want to support.  The training would be a great first taste of serving in our neighborhood.  Please let the small groups you are connected with know about this for those that may be interested.  Also please let me know who is interested so I can let the coordinator know.  I’d prefer to send him one e-mail with all of our numbers.  If you have any questions e-mail me or call my cell since we are out of town for the week.   Thanks – 314-941-6701    –    Training Days:  We are hosting another training day! On July 10, at 8:30 am, we will learn how to install carpets.  This is a great skill to have when helping families in need.  Please sign up with Josh Kamer by emailing josh.kamer@communityloopstl.org and putting “Carpet Training” in the subject line. “

Cornerstone is sponsoring a Golf Tournament on Monday, July 26th, at Crescent Farms Golf Course in Eureka to support Richard and Pam Schumacher of EFCA and Al and Edie Lewis of Reach Global.  Registration forms are available in the Welcome Center.

Camp Cornerstone will be at Turkey Hill Ranch Camp on August 27 through 29.  Watch for signups to begin July 11th.  Is this on your calendar yet?

The Saturday morning Barnabas Project, open to men and women, led by Pastor Terry, meets from 7:30 to 8:30 in the Fireplace Room using the Student Copy of the Men At The Cross One2Won cross training study guide.  We encourage discipleship among ladies/young ladies as well as men/young men and this study helps each of us become familiar with and comfortable using a great tool for one-to-one or one-to-two discipleship.  It is an extremely practical way of equipping men and women of Cornerstone to multiply disciple makers.

Cal Swan, District Superintendent of the Central EFCA, sends this update on their son, Ben, who has now completed his chemo treatments and cancer surgeries:  “…At this point his doctor was able to pronounce that Ben is “in remission”.  What that means, we understand, is that there is no need at the present time for any treatment and no evidence of growing cancer. For this we are very thankful and grateful to God, for his healing touch and to you, for your many prayers and concern for us…”

Reminder:  Our Monday evening prayer group meets from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary; and, the 50/50 prayer group meets every Thursday morning from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. in the Fireplace Room.  Everyone is welcome to join either or both groups.

SERVING CORNERSTONE

Please consider being a volunteer at Cornerstone.  Sign up through the Welcome sheet in your Sunday bulletin or call or email the church office to joanne@cornerstonestaff.org .  Wherever you see this symbol “♥” in this publication, it indicates volunteer opportunities available at Cornerstone.  Contact the office to find where you can help.  You are what makes Cornerstone thrive so come, volunteer and help us grow.

REMINDER!  ♥ We continually collect used laser and ink jet printer cartridges and old cell phones for our silent recycling fundraiser – place them in the basket located by the elevator in the foyer.
